"In the end only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you."

The judge looked over the paperwork and then at her. His first question seemed directly on point. “Miss Nagel, I am curious, at the age of forty-seven, what would compel you to legally change your name?”

Becoming Kate is the story of a heart… my heart.  In 2013, I was in the midst of a powerful transformative journey when I was led right back to the place where it all began. My hometown. Cleveland.

I was returned to face the demons that had haunted me and kept me from the life I wanted. This particular leg of the journey asked me to consider the entirety of my life’s experiences and navigate a course to change as I allowed everything that I had fought to create, give way to the possibility of who I was meant to be.

I chose twelve compelling moments that allowed me to shift my perceptions, beliefs, and values.  Each served as a turning point as I reconciled my past, restored peace to my soul, and released my heart’s passion to live.

Becoming Kate is published by Balboa Press, a division of Hay House Publishing.
